Note: For FT1 View™ software to function, please be sure to have a working version of Microsoft® Office installed on the PC before installing FT1 View™.

USB Driver and the Fox Thermal FT1 View™ Software
A USB driver is needed for FT1 View™ to run. If the USB drive does not install automatically, you will need to download it by following this link. Instructions are included on how to install it correctly.

Flow meter accuracy is often dependent on achieving a uniform flow profile near the center of the pipe. Distortion and swirl are disturbances in flow that can be remedied either by extending the length of space between the cause of the disturbance and the sensing element (increasing straight pipe runs) or by adding a flow conditioner to correct the disturbance. Flow conditioners installed upstream of flow meters reduce the need for long, straight pipe runs. Common Features for Fox Thermal FC20 Flow Conditioner:

  • For use with all Fox insertion style flow meters
  • Reduces the need for long straight pipe runs
  • Negigible pressure drop
  • Precision, laser-cut design
  • 316 stainless steel material

CAL-V™ is a Calibration Validation test feature available on the Model FT1 Thermal Mass Flow Meter. This test does the following:

  • Tests the functionality of the sensor and its associated signal processing circuitry
  • Checks for build-up on sensor that could affect calibration
  • Ensures that the meter still retains its original NIST-traceable calibration

Use this test according to the manufacturer’s instructions in order to validate the calibration of the meter.

CAL-V™ in FT1 available starting in firmware v6.0.

The Gas-SelectX® feature is a revolutionary new feature that allows the user to have a meter capable of measuring more than 10 different gases accurately. The user can choose from the list of gases below or mix any to create a custom gas mix specifically for their application! Gases currently available with Gas-SelectX® on the FT1 include:

  • Air
  • Argon
  • Butane
  • Carbon Dioxide
  • Ethane
  • Helium
  • Hydrogen
  • Methane
  • Natural Gas*
  • Nitrogen
  • Oxygen
  • Propane
  • 5-Gas Mix (proportions must equal 100%)

The Gas Mixes are programmable in 0.1% increments and up to five of the gases listed above can be mixed. The Gas-SelectX® feature can be accessed through the front panel of the meter or by using the free FT1 View™ software tool.

*Natural gas refers to pipeline-quality dry natural gas. Fox Thermal uses the NAESB standard as the default composition for natural gas in the Pure Gas menu of Gas-SelectX®. Naturally occurring gas - from oil fields commonly referred to as Associated Gas – may have a different percentage of gas constituents in its composition. Use the Mixed Gas Menu in Gas-SelectX® to program the correct percentages of the natural gas or contact Fox Thermal for further information.

Winner of the 2015 Processing Breakthrough Award

Winner of the Processing Magazine’s 2015 Breakthrough Product Award!

Among all thermal mass flow meters on the market today, the Model FT1 from Fox is the only Breakthrough Product celebrated by Processing Magazine in 2015. The Model FT1 has garnered attention due to its Direct Digitally Controlled sensor technology – a digital sensor technology unique to the Model FT1. The DDC Sensor™ provides the platform for a revolutionary new gas selection feature: Gas-SelectX®. Each FT1 is programed to measure multiple gases available in the Gas-SelectX® gas selection menu, which contains pure gases and a mixed gas feature to choose from. The mixed gas feature allows the user to input the percentage of three gases available in the menu to achieve the precise mixture for the application.
