Pure Gases

Thermal flow meters from Fox deliver the highest level of accuracy. Fox Flow Meters provide the real time responsiveness required in a variety of pure gas flow measurement applications. Other important applications include:

Argon Mass Flow Meter
  • Fox flow meters offer two distinct products for Argon flow metering. Model 10A and Model FT2 deliver excellent results for applications involving Argon.

    Carbon Dioxide Mass Flow Meter
  • Many industries - such as chemical, petrochemical, iron & steel, cement, and paper & pulp - emit CO2 gas.  It is also commonly used to neutralize process and waste water streams.  CO2 is a gas that Fox Meters are commonly used to measure.

    Carbon Monoxide Mass Flow Meter
  • Although almost 80% of CO emissions are from transportation emissions, there are still many industries that have CO emissions and Fox Gas Flow Meters serve this application well.

    Hydrogen Mass Flow Meter

    Methane Mass Flow Meter
  • In biogas applications with digesters and coal mine gas recovery, methane plays a large part.  Fox meters work very well with these applications by accurately measuring in these low flow situations.

    Nitrogen Mass Flow Meter
  • Nitrogen is used in purging applications for heating, ventilation and plumbing industries. Large volumes of nitrogen are required by oil refineries and petrochemical industries for purging and blanketing operations. Nitrogen is also being used at a sharply increasing rate by the food industry.  Use either the Model FT2 or the Model 10A flow meter to receive optimal nitrogen flow detection.

    Oxygen Mass Flow Meter
  • Medical centers, clinics, and hospitals often have use for meters to measure the flow of oxygen.  Fox maintains cleaning facilities for cleaning and bagging meters intended for use in oxygen applications. 
  • Fox meters are approved for use in oxygen applications including medical oxygen.

    Fox Thermal Flowmeters use a constant temperature differential (constant D T) technology to measure mass flow rate of air and gases. The thermal mass flow sensor consists of two Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTD’s). The sensor elements are constructed of a reference grade platinum wire wound around ceramic mandrels that are inserted into stainless steel or Hastelloy tubes.

    The Reference RTD measures the gas temperature. The instrument electronics heat the mass flow sensor, or heated element, to a constant temperature differential (constant D T) above the gas temperature and measures the cooling effect of the gas flow. The electrical power required to maintain a constant temperature differential is directly proportional to the gas mass flow rate. 

    The microprocessor then linearizes this signal to deliver a linear 4 to 20 mA signal.
